Anita Benedict lives in Monticello,
Iowa and works in the Food Service Department at the local High School.
Her husband, Roger, works with Star Manufacturing. They’ve been married
for 30+ wonderful years. They have two children, Sarah and Thomas, who grew
up going to Camp Wyoming. In fact, Thomas eventually became a counselor
at Camp where he worked on staff for five summers. Currently, Sarah is
working with American Eagle at the Eastern Iowa Airport while Thomas
lives in Waterloo where he works handicapped adults at EPI.
Anita has served on the Camp Wyoming Board of Directors and as the Chair of the Program Committee. She also
serves as the Church Treasurer at the First Presbyterian Church in
Monticello. Anita likes Chinese food and really enjoys cross-stitching.
Anita’s father, Robert Lyon, was a member of the first group of
volunteers who helped build the cabins at Camp. Her family’s connection
with Camp Wyoming has stayed strong for much of the Camp’s history. She
feels “camp has come a long way and continues to grow.” She was proud to
be a part of the group who helped build the outdoor Labyrinth at Camp in
2004. She hopes that people of all ages get the opportunity to come
closer to God through the use of this amazing resource. “Camp is a place
where you can connect with your family and take time to relax.”
