Erin Parker Landsee grew up coming to Camp Wyoming as a camper,
Leader-in-Training (L.I.T.), and summer staff member. She has since
returned to Camp to volunteer as a counselor for various camps; most
notably as a Thrill Seekers Counselor and L.I.T leader.
Erin grew up in Dubuque, Iowa where she graduated from Hempstead High
School. She later graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in
Elementary Education. She is currently a 2nd grade teacher in DeKalb,
Illinois. Erin likes to canoe, walk her dog, camp, sing, and make
crafts. She is also learning to quilt. Her favorite food is pizza and
her favorite movie is “The Sound of Music.”
Erin spent most of her young life coming to Camp Wyoming. She met her
future husband, Ben, when they both were Pioneer campers in 1994. Both
Ben and Erin later spent many years on staff together. Erin served as a
lifeguard, Arts & Crafts leader, Counselor, and Blockhouse Coordinator.
Erin has a younger brother, Andy, and a younger sister, Sara. Both Andy
and Sara have also worked on summer staff at Camp Wyoming. Andy owns
Custom Futons in Dubuque and Sara is a student at the University of Iowa
seeking degrees in Art and Elementary Education. Erin’s mother, Kristy,
is the pastor for First Presbyterian Church in Jesup, Iowa while her
dad, Tom, works for John Deere in Waterloo.
Erin enjoyed her time at camp because “it was a place where I could be
myself. I could be goofy and whacky without worrying about others
judging me. It also made me more comfortable to open up about my faith.
I made many lifelong friends at Camp.” She hopes Camp continues to
provide a fun, carefree environment for campers to experience worship,
praying, and Bible studies in a different fashion. She is excited about
the prospects of a High Ropes Course and Climbing Tower which will
enhance the adventurous element in the summer program.
We were very happy to see how Camp has impacted Erin’s life and faith
journey. She has been a special part of the ministry ot Camp Wyoming.
Thank you for your lifelong commitment to Camp, Erin!
