Camp Wyoming welcomes Shannon B. Appleby of Anamosa, Iowa to the Camp
Wyoming Board of Directors. Shannon has been in the
Marketing/Advertising/Television production for 15 years. He was
previous the Director/Editor of Autumn Quest Productions before joining
J & P Cycles in the Marketing Department. Shannon serves as the Video
Producer for J & P Cycles as well as the “on the road” Photographer in
the Special Projects department. He also owns an independent video
production named My Boyz Productions. He’s involved in projects for The
Sportsman Channel, Outdoor Channel and Mediacom cable just to name a
few.
Shannon and his wife Stacy live in Anamosa and have two wonderful sons,
Tyler age 12 and Cain age 5. The Appleby family is active in Anamosa’s
Boy Scout Troop 67. Shannon loves the outdoors as his favorite leisure
activities are camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and off-road
trucking. Shannon states, “Doing anything with my boys is a great time!”
The last movie Shannon saw was Marley & Me and he admits he couldn’t
watch the end. His favorite meal is his wife’s Sheppard’s Pie cooked in
a cast iron pan over the fire, with walleye cooked on the shore a close
second.
Shannon grew up in rural Anamosa. His mother purchased an acre of ground
when he was 11 years old and he spent the rest of his childhood and teen
years running around the timber and taking care of his rabbits and
chickens. He went to school in Anamosa and then transferred to Metro
High School in Cedar Rapids. He received his GED at Job Corps in Denison
Iowa with the highest score in record time in over 13 years of campus
history. He then attended Western Iowa Tech Community College getting
his Associates degree in Business Management in one year. This meant
doubling up his class schedule while working two jobs at the same time
to pay his way through school.
Shannon first found out about Camp Wyoming in 2008 from a co-worker.
Then his son Tyler was the recipient of the Mike’s Kids program in
Anamosa that sends children to events that they wouldn’t normally be
able to afford to attend. After Tyler’s experience at Camp Wyoming and
seeing how Camp changed his life, Shannon knew they would continue to be
involved with Camp Wyoming. In the fall of 2008 Shannon brought his Boy
Scout troop to Camp Wyoming for a weekend of camping in the treehouses.
Shannon was then invited to be a member of the Camp Wyoming Board of
Directors and assist with the marketing efforts. He happily agreed.
Shannon is now working with other board members to expand the Camp
Wyoming community and increase the overall awareness of Camp Wyoming.
Thank you Shannon for sharing your talents and your family with Camp
Wyoming. |
