Volunteer - Shirley
Parker During the first two weeks of summer camp, if you see a lady smiling
from ear to ear, you can almost bet it’s Shirley Parker of Marion, Iowa.
Shirley has volunteered at Camp Wyoming during T.T.T. sessions in many
capacities, as a cabin chaperone, an Arts & Crafts leader and most
recently as a member of the Tuesday Carnival Crew.
Forty-nine years ago Shirley married Bob Parker. Throughout the years
Shirley has been a bookkeeper, newcomer hostess, daycare/preschool
provider and a 4-H leader.
Shirley grew up on a farm near Springville, attending school in Viola
and Springville until graduating from Springville High School in 1957.
She enjoys spending time with her husband and their friends, traveling,
and seeing her four grandchildren’s sports and musical events. Her
hobbies are quilting, babysitting, playing bridge and dominoes. The last
movie she saw was The Illusionist, and her favorite meal is shrimp,
salad and soup.
Bringing joy to her life, Shirley enjoys being with her friends and
family. She never thought she’d see the day when her and Bob could
winter in the warmer climates during the cold Iowa winter months.
Shirley first became familiar with Camp Wyoming when her sons, Ron and
Gordon attended camp in the early 70’s. An active member of the Marion
Presbyterian Church, Shirley is involved in the Martha Circle and the
Funeral Luncheon Committee.
Thank you Shirley for your continued dedication to T.T.T. and the Camp
Wyoming programs. |
