Tim Dohrmann
If a woodchuck could chuck wood,
how much wood would a woodchuck chuck? If the woodchuck is anything
like Tim Dorhmann of Cedar Rapids, then that’s a lot of wood! Tim has
been instrumental in cutting, splitting and stacking wood throughout the
Camp property, all with a beaming smile upon his face. Tim first came
to Camp Wyoming years ago as part of a couples tent camping group from
Christ Presbyterian Church. Through the years his grandchildren have
enjoyed Camp Wyoming and Tim continues to volunteer with his wood
cutting talents. He’s also a supporter of Trees Forever.
Tim grew up in Ida Grove, Iowa
and graduated from Newhall High School. Soon thereafter he married his
wife Sherri and started working at Midland Forge as a machine operator.
Tim and Sherri have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. After 37 years Tim
retired from Midland Forge. He wanted to keep active after retirement
so he took on a part-time position at the Meth-Wick Community. In his
free time Tim enjoys hunting, fishing and camping. Tim and Sherri have
a 5th wheel
camper that they enjoy taking to their 80 acres of property near Waukon,
Iowa. Next year when Sherri retires from Square D they plan on doing
some camping in the southern United States.
Tim is a
member and elder of Christ Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
While not currently on session, Tim enjoys singing in the choir,
participating in the bell choir and leading an adult Sunday school
class. He has also served as Church Treasurer in the past. Tim enjoys
reading books written by James Patterson and says the last movie he saw
was part of “movie night” at church, entitled Shrek 2. Tim’s favorite
meal is pot roast with all the fixings. Singing praises to his Lord is
Tim’s greatest joy. Tim’s hope for the future of Camp Wyoming is to see
expansion to bring youth in and more involvement by the Presbyterian
churches.
