Rev. Troy Winder is the Pastor for the First Presbyterian
Church in Bettendorf, Iowa. Troy grew up in Waterloo and went to the
University of Dubuque for his undergraduate degree as well as his
seminary degree. After seminary, he served as an Associate Pastor for
Christian Education and Youth for two churches; one in the Finger Lakes
region of New York and then at a church in Omaha, Nebraska. He later
served the First Presbyterian Church in Huron, South Dakota. Troy has
been involved with camp and retreat ministry during each stop in his
ministry.
Troy met his wife, Marie, during their college years at the University
of Dubuque. Marie teaches Music Education for Toddlers at Scott
Community College. They have two children, Jennifer and Matthew.
Jennifer is a Freshman at Luther College majoring in Spanish and Matthew
is in 2nd grade. Troy enjoys camping, fishing, reading, traveling, and
playing with his kids. He is also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. His
favorite food is lobster and his favorite movie is the “Lord of the
Rings” Trilogy.
“Camp does a great job of ministering to youth and providing a positive
experience in their faith formation. Camp Wyoming is also a gorgeous
space which enhances the experience for elder and pastor retreats.” Troy
is really excited about the potential of an Adult Conference and Retreat
Center in the Camp’s Long Range Plan. A Conference and Retreat Center
would offer adults a place to concentrate on building relationships in a
setting set apart. This would support their faith development while
providing an opportunity to quietly commune with God. We are excited
about Troy joining the Camp Wyoming Board of Directors and sharing his
God-given gifts to the Camp ministry.
